Prospect 6, an art event that began in New Orleans following Katrina and now in its sixth iteration, opened on November 2, 2024 and will run through February 2, 2025. One of the many installation sites includes a former Ford Model T assembly plant located in Chalmette, Louisiana, which has been closed since the 1930s. During Prospect 6, Jeanne Nathan’s Creative Industry arts organization, will use their exhibit space on the 2nd floor of the Ford Plant to showcase work in a group show. As one of the artists included in the show, I chose to feature work from my 2019 exhibit and book: Enigmatic Stream: Industrial Landscapes of the Lower Mississippi. The prints featured at Creative Industry are industrial landscapes from St. Bernard Parish, all in close proximity to the long abandoned Ford Plant. My work, along with that of the other artists in the exhibit, is not a part of Prospect 6, but is merely happening concurrent with it and in close proximity to the Prospect 6 installations adjacent to it. More information about Prospect 6 is available here: https://www.prospect6.org/. Photos of the original installation of Enigmatic Stream at the Historic New Orleans Collection are featured on my website here: https://richardsextonstudio.com/2019/09/enigmatic-stream-at-the-historic-new-orleans-collection/. A display copy of the book/catalog of the exhibit is included in this Creative Industry exhibit and is featured on my website here: https://richardsextonstudio.com/enigmatic-stream-industrial-landscapes-of-the-lower-mississippi-river/
