News from Winter and Spring of 2024

I was interviewed by New Orleans-based art writer Chris Waddington on March 3, 2024, for Salon Bywater, a volunteer organization that sponsors events about artists who live in New Orleans’ Bywater neighborhood, or adjacent areas. The interview was recorded and will be archived by The Historic New Orleans Collection. It was a fun afternoon with a lively crowd on hand. We discussed some past projects and previewed some projects I’m currently working on. Here’s a short slideshow of images from the event:

I was honored to be included in the current photography exhibit Southland at the Ogden Museum of Southern Art, New Orleans. The exhibit, which features landscapes of the American South from their permanent collection, was curated by Richard McCabe, the Ogden’s curator of photography. The exhibit opened on April 20, 2024, and closes on September 22, 2024. Three of my photographs were featured in the exhibit. All of the photographs were from my book and exhibit Terra Incognita: Photographs of America’s Third Coast. It was particularly gratifying to be in this exhibit with several other photographers whose work I admire and who are also personal friends.

Finally, I have a new book, which has just gone into production: New Orleans: A Photo Guide to the Wild Mélange. It’s a small format souvenir book about the city, which will be released this fall by Capitola Art Press and Looziana Book Company. I’ll have a feature page on the project as we get closer to the publication date of October 1, 2024. So, check back later. For now, here’s a preview of the cover:
