Enigmatic Stream Inaugural Exhibit Closes

On March 14, 2020, The Historic New Orleans Collection closed to the public due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Enigmatic Stream was on display at that time and was due to end its inaugural exhibition run on April 5, 2020. A closing event was planned for April 1, 2020, which was cancelled due to the pandemic. Currently The Historic New Orleans Collection plans to open indoor exhibits to the public again in mid-July, 2020. In the meantime, Enigmatic Stream is being deinstalled so that the exhibit scheduled to follow it in April can finally be installed. So, without the typical exhibit closing fanfare, Enigmatic Stream has now closed. A virtual exhibit experience will remain available on the Collection’s website and can be seen here: https://www.hnoc.org/virtual/enigmatic-stream

The exhibition catalog can be purchased from the gift shop at The Historic New Orleans Collection here: https://www.hnoc.org/publications/books/enigmatic-stream

I visited the exhibit one last time in late June, 2020, with John Lawrence, director of museum programs at the Collection, and curator of the Enigmatic Stream exhibit. Deinstallation began following our visit. This exhibit was always intended to travel and I’m hopeful that plans for future exhibit venues can commence sometime in 2021, once the pandemic is not the threat to the public it currently is. Check back here for announcements regarding travel venues.
